Jared Thomas Alger appeals from convictions of voluntary manslaughter, felony false imprisonment and misdemeanor assault. He contends his constitutional right of confrontation was violated because the pathologist who performed the victims autopsy did not testify at trial; the court erred in admitting some of the statements he made to the police; the trial court abused its discretion in denying his request for a continuance to allow retained counsel to replace the public defender; and the evidence was insufficient to support the manslaughter conviction. We agree with the first of appellants contention and, accordingly, reverse the convictions.
