In postconviction proceedings, Ronnie Ferrell filed a motion under Florida Rule of Criminal Procedure 3.850 to vacate his convictions for first-degree murder, armed robbery, and armed kidnapping, and his sentence of death. The trial court

denied Ferrell`s guilt-phase claims, but granted him a new penalty phase. Ferrell appeals the denial of guilt-phase relief and petitions this Court for a writ of habeas corpus. The State cross-appeals the trial court`s order granting Ferrell a new penalty phase. We have jurisdiction. See art. V,
