ORDER Upon consideration of the Office of the Public Defender's motion for an order dismissing Defendant-Appellant Alan Szafranski's appeal, the papers in support, and the records and files herein, it appears that: (1) on February 2, 2000, the

Office of the Public Defender notified Appellant that a notice of appeal was filed on his behalf and that he had to remain in contact with his attorney; (2) Appellant did not respond to the letter and subsequent letters addressed to Appellant at his last known address were returned unclaimed; (3) a search for Appellant was unsuccessful; and (4) Appellant has abandoned his appeal. Therefore; IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that the motion for an order of dismissal of appeal is granted, and this appeal is dismissed. DATED: Honolulu, Hawai#i, June 21, 2000.
