OPINION After a bench trial, defendant Terry Alsup was convicted of two counts of possession of controlled substances with intent to deliver in violation of the Illinois Controlled Substances Act (720 ILCS 570/401(c)(2), (d) (West 2004)) and sentenced to 11 years' imprisonment. The appellate court found that the trial transcript revealed a "complete breakdown" in the chain of custody on one charge and reversed one of defendant's two convictions. No. 1
