KIMBALL, Justice.* Allen Robertson, Jr. was indicted by a grand jury for the first degree murders of Morris and Kazuko Prestenback in violation of La. R.S. 14:30. After a trial, the jury found defendant guilty as charged and recommended a sentence of death. The trial court sentenced defendant to death in accordance with the jury's recommendation. In this direct appeal from that conviction and sentence,1 defendant raises 37 assignments of error, both argued and unargued, which he alleges implicate the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution, and Article I, Sections 2, 3, 5, 9, 12, 13, 15-17, 19, 20, and 22-24 of the Louisiana Constitution. Finding no reversible error in any of the assignments, we affirm both the conviction and the sentence.

FACTS On January 1, 1991, at some time after 10:00 p.m., defendant left a nightclub with the intention of stealing something which he could sell for money to buy drugs. He entered the home of Morris and Kazuko Prestenback, an elderly couple whom defendant knew lived a few houses down from defendant's mother's house on Dalton Street in Baton Rouge.
