Waters ("The 0ne & 0nly!" as he describes himself on the signature line of his pleadings) has brought this pro se action for employment discrimination against the Motor Vehicle Administration. Discovery has been completed, and defendant has moved for summary judgment. Plaintiff has responded to the motion. The motion will be granted. A narrative recitation of the facts is not necessary because defendant clearly is entitled to judgment as a matter of law. "[E]mployment discrimination laws require as an absolute precondition to suit that some adverse employment action have occurred." Settle v. Baltimore County, 34 F. Supp. 2d 969, 987 (D. Md. 1999), (quoted in Bristow v. Daily Press, Inc., 770 F.2d 1251, 1255 (4th Cir. 1985)). Adverse employment actions include only matters that can be characterized as "ultimate employment decisions, such as hiring, granting leave, discharging, promoting and compensation." Settle at 987. Plaintiff has alleged no such "ultimate employment decision" here.1 As to plaintiff's hostile work environment claim, the record establishes nothing more than a personality conflict between himself and his supervisor. Plaintiff does assert that the supervisor used several racial epithets but he never brought the use

Some of the matters about which plaintiff complains also occurred more than 300 days before the filing of his charges with the EEOC and are there no cognizable. See Leskinen v. Utz Quality Foods, Inc., 30 F. Supp. 2d 530, 533 (D. Md. 1998).
