1.

Constitutional Law -- effective assistance of counsel -- counsel's performance below objective standard -- opened door to testimony -- no prejudice Defendant did not receive ineffective assistance of counsel in a trial for second-degree sexual offense and crime against nature where trial counsel opened the door to testimony about other sexual offense charges pending against defendant. Although trial counsel's performance fell below an objective standard of reasonableness because there was no strategic benefit in opening the door to this testimony, the evidence about the other pending sexual offense charges did not likely affect the jury's verdicts, and defendant was not prejudiced by his trial counsel's error.
